The assembly area, located just outside the Saudi Capitol of Riyahd,
served as a staging base for a Quick Reaction Force that could stop
expected attacks on key installations around the city. The. list of
important facilities that fell under our protective umbrella was
extensive. CENTCOM, ARCENT, MARCENT, and CENTAP headquarters as
well as the U.S. Embassy all relied on the 3rd Brigade for protection.
