to the ancient city of UR highlighted the stay there. The Battalion
moved south to KKMC over a three day period starting on 4 April. At
KKMC, efforts were totally directed at getting the Battalion home.
Half the Sappers moved to the port ol Al Jubyl with our equipment to
prepare it for transport to FRG. The remainder of the Battalion
closed-out KHM.C and flow home on 23 April. The soldiers at port
followed two days later. A 50 man detail remained in Saudi to
ensure the equipment makes it home. They returned to Germany in
        mid-June.

        After the War.

The Battalion's personnel returned to Bamberg in late April.
The next two months were spent integrating back into the community,
recovering baggage, conducting recovery operations, and returning
soldiers to their former units. Following a two week personnel/
logistical standdown period, 6 through 17 May was compensatory time.
The majority of the Battalion's equipment closed during the month of
        July.

To commemorate the time in the desert, the Battalion conducted
        a reflagging ceremony on 16 May 1991.

On 16 June 1991, the Battalion was assigned to 3ID(M), and on 1
August the Battalion became part of the 3rd Engineer Brigade, 31D.
