               DISCUSSION:    This weapon s'yste!m cannot be engaged   from inside  the
  vehicle.   Consequently the overpressure system becomes ineffective       when the
  c.ommander's hatch-is opened to engage targets.'     The FOX (NBCRS) is   not an
  aggressive combat vehicle.and should only engage targets as a last        resort to
  break contact. The-crew must     be able to t-emain in'a clean environment during
  the entire mission, including    those in which enemy contact is imminent.

               RECOMMENDATION6    Testing of tlte M240C model with the pull cord is
  a viable option. Also.' an adaptation that allows the current system to be
  elevated, tiarersed and fired from the ink;icle of the vehicle with the
  commander's hatch closed would suffice as well. Both options would require
  extensive training to engage    targets effectively.
