a.( K Iraq has reportedly sought chemical nine& or chemical
compatible nine fXom'@-he US, USSR, Italy, and Yugoslavia.
b(P)@OT During the Iran-Iraq war improvised chemical 'mines
were encountered. The mines involved a @oke bottle partially
filled with mustard with a.co,,nmand detonated charge underneath.
c(U)I,af Following the Iran-Iraq war there were reports of the
US M-21 nine being found with a gray painted body and three
stripes. The mine had an unidentified fill (probably mustard).

d% Li,@T The KUF-I and 2 are assessed as being in the Iraqi_
inventory. They contain 4.5 liters of liquid agent Most likely
mustard. The mine is command detonated and jumps to a height of
four to five meters where it detonates, covering an area up to
300 scluar@ meters with an average of 15 to 20 grams per square
,meters.
elulvglo'The US assessment is that if chemical mines are
encountered they will be in a ratio of 80 percent mustard and 20
percent non-persis@@ent nerve. If chemical mines are used, they
could be mixed with conventional m4-nes to hinder breaching forces
or uscd separately to c-ente areas of contamination to slow or
channelize the enemy.
