1. 25 Dee 90: Evaluation of the field mess facility assigned the 12th
E-v;aouati'on Hospital was conducted by SSG Walton and PV2 Jerry. Refrige3?-
ation was not available for food storage nor was an ice box. Items were
@not protected from dust contamination. Non-perishables were not stored
in metal containers with tight fitting lids. Utensils were not protected
from contamination by dust. Fruits were not ivashed prior to offerring
for service. Latrines were not clean. Soakage pits were not properly
set up and maintained. Overall rating of the mess operation was satisfact-
cry under the existing field conditions.
2. 29 Dec 90: Evaluation of thei.,mess facility and shower point of the
42nd mixed (Amb) was performed by SPC Byers and PFC Jackson. The mess
facility was found to be excellent. The showers were satisfactory but
the water was 'lice cold". Field sanitation supplies were not delivered
to the site as of the date of evaluation.
3. 31 Dee 90: A courtesy evaluation of the field sanitation at the
428th TAEDSOI-,L field site was performed by SPC Dworek and PV2 Roadman.
Field sanitation equipment and some mess supplies were on a ?,IILVAN which
had not yet arrived (428th was at the field site starting on 24 Dee 90).
It was recommended that more'gravel be placed in the soakage/grease pit
and local purchase of "SNIP" fly bait be made to aid fly control.
Field sanitation evaluations of 240th S&S Co and 17th FSC were conducted
by PFC Hartsook and PV2 Jerry. The 240th was advised to spray their urinals
with fuel for fly control, dig evaporation trench for the showers 8 to 10
feert long, dig a burn pit a minimum of 100 yds from the bivaue area for
waste disposal cover open'supplies and sugar in the mess facility, and
storage of fruits and bottled water should be inside tents for protection
from the elements. The 17th FSC was also advised to spray fuel around
their latrines and urinals. They were also asked to install handnvashing
devices beside the latrines. The 17th was advised to keep food in sealed
containers stored off the floor. The or,@r

noted. Both units were advised to use appendix D. Itlid 21-10-1 to order
Field Sanitation Team supplies.
