               Significant trends:
*Diarrhea has declined to approximately one-third the
rate seen in the previous 3 weeks. Continued preventive
medicine emphasis has succeeded in minimizing local national
participation in high risk food preparation steps, though
non-approved local produce continues to be used.
**A dramatic outbreak of 350 cases over a 3 day period
occurred at this site. Diarrhea had been minimal over the
previous 3 weeks. Though PM emphasis on chow hall
procedures has been excellent, it appears that non-approved
local produce (especially lettuce) may be largely
               responsible for the problem.
Respiratory disease has declined by approximately half
at this site over the previous 2 weeks.

               Significant trends:
*These units have had higher diarrhea rates than the
usual baseline (I% or less). They are not served by a
single chow hall, and generally do not receive "vat can"
deliveries in garrison. Epidemiologic information is not
complete enough to clearly define a pattern.
