CONCLUSION
Although this study does not have all of the advantages of a
large study, it does offer a number of unique opportunities. The
fact that a signficant number of members and former members of
RNMCB 24 are having post-ODSS symptoms insures a significant number
of cases. The fact that these are reservists results in their
having less mobility than an active duty population. Finally, the
proximity and relatively small numbers allow a greater degree of
potential contact and observation of the study subjects.
In view of these factors, a study of this nature can be very
successful in helping to answer some of the questions surrounding
the PGMI. However, in order for this study to be successfully
implemented, it will be necessary to have a high level of
cooperation from the VA and for staff augmentation to occur at
NEPMU2.
