directed that IZ helos be allowed to fly in Iraq for
purpose of command and control of Iraqi forces in the
field
NBC OPERATIONS:
soldier from HHC 3-8 Cav, 3d AD was treated for possible
chemical agent blistering on his upper arm. The nomex suit he
was wearing, and the suspect bunker he had cleared on 28 Feb
were checked with the NBCRS (mass spectrometer) which
indicated Mustard (H) and/or Sesqi-Mustard (HQ). Soldier was
treated by a chemical casualty specialist who reported the
blisters were characteristic of exposure to Mustard. Soldier
has returned to duty. A urine sainpie was collected to screen
for Mustard metabolites, and the soldier's clothing was passed
to technical intelligence for e~aluation.~
