SUMMARY: IN ADDITION TO THE CHEMICAL
FLUID "KHADAR" , THE REPUBLICAN GUARDS ALSO STORE
ANOTHER CHEMICAL FLUID AT AR RASHIDIYAH.

TEXT: 1. (b.1. sec. 1.5.c.)
ALL CHEMICALS STORED AT AR RASHIDIYAH CAMP BELONG TO THE REPUBLICAN GUARDS (RG).

2. (b.1. sec. 1.5.c.) UNDETERMINED
AMOUNTS OF THE KHADAR CHEMICAL ARE BURIED IN THE AREA
SURROUNDING THE FIRST BUILDING ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE
STREET, APPROXIMATELY TWO KILOMETERS SOUTH OF THE
CAMP'S NORTHERN GATE. ALSO, THERE IS ANOTHER CHEMICAL
USED BY THE RG FOR CHEMICAL WARFARE [b.1. sec. 1.5.(c)]
IDENTIFIED AS QITLAWI, PHONETICALLY IN ARABIC (PIN) --
QAAF TAH LAM WAW. (FIELD COMMENT-- THE ARABIC TERM
QALAWA MEANS TO FRY OR TO BURN). THE QITLAWI CHEMICAL
IS STORED IN 40 LITER BARRELS AND BURIED WITH THE
KHADAR. SOME OF THE BARRELS ARE MARKED WITH THE
ARABIC WORD "QITLAWI." (b.1. sec. 1.5.c.) THERE ALSO MAY
BE SOME NERVE GAS, IN ARABIC "GHAS AL 'SAB (PIN--GHAH
ALEF SEEN/E'IN SAAD BAH), STORED AT AR RASHIDIAYH AS
THIS GAS IS ALSO COMMONLY USED BY THE RG DURING
CHEMICAL WARFARE.
3. (b.1. sec. 1.5.c.) QITLAWI WAS USED BY THE IRAQI ARMY DURING THE IRAN-TRAQ WAR IN THE BATTLE AT HALABJA, IRAN. (b.1. sec. 1.5.c.)
              RECEIVED CHEMICAL WARFARE CLASSES
IN WHICH QITLAWI WAS DISCUSSED. REPORTEDLY, QITLAWI
LEAVES A BURNING SENSATION WHEREVER IT COMES IN
CONTACT WITH THE SKIN, WHICH EVENTUALLY LEADS TO THE
DEVELOPMENT OF LARGE BLISTERS.
