[illegible] Ali Wannaas 6970 20 25 7000 2500 9520 10000 9520 00280 [Page 128] Deployment The function of the chemical company in the division is to provide chemical support to the division headquarters as its first priority, and to the division's formations as a second priority according to the requirements of the tactical situation and the Chemical Support Plan formulated by the Commander of the Chemical Branch. This plan includes the use of chemical resources in the division to assess the chemical support required. To provide the required support, deployment of the chemical company elements in the operations is as follows: First. The First Section: It deploys in an area approximately 1-5 km from the main section. The location of deployment is determined by the Chemical Branch commander in consultation with the division's operations staff. It is preferable that the location be near the shelter of the division headquarters vehicles, which is about 2-3 kms away. This section consists of the following: 1. The company headquarters. 2. Recon. platoon. 3. Equipment decontamination platoon. 4. Personnel decontamination platoon. 5. Chemical field lab (this may be located in the second section with the radiation detection lab). 6. The necessary administrative elements in the administrative platoon which are needed by the company in the battle. Second. The Second Section: This section deploys in the division's administrative area along with the supply section of the Chemical Branch Directorate. It consists of: 1. The mobile chemical lab and the chemical and radiation detecting lab. 2. The administrative platoon minus the administrative elements in the first section. The Company's Tactical Use: a. Chemical observation and recon. b. Total decontamination of weapons, equipment and personnel. 1. Decontaminating [illegible] division's impact. 2. Assessing decontamination capacity in the formations. 3. Defining 2-3 decontamination lines. 4. The distance should be about 35-40 minutes [illegible]. 5. Decontamination is conducted on site. 6. Smoke containers are used. c. The land is decontaminated. 1. Sections of the division headquarters 2. Defensive sites and artillery areas. 3. The administrative area. 4. Self-piercing Atropine Needles: a. Atropine Capsules The self-piercing atropine needle capsule issued for operations purposes is dropped from service after use by means of an original control form set up by the unit after forming a committee including an officer from the Chemical Branch among its members. The committee should be approved by the formation commander and the commander of the chemical branch/command or division. b. Self-piercing Atropine Needles A committee is set up of representatives of the Chemical Branch Commands/corps/command/division when consuming up the self-piercing atropine needles (without capsule) as a result of frequent usage several times. After the committee ascertains that the needles are not usable, a control form is completed and approved by the commander of the chemical branch in the corps. 2. Self-piercing Sodium Chloride Needle (for training) a. Sodium Chloride Capsule The sodium chloride capsule is dropped from service after being used for training purposes by the units. This is done by means of an original control form after setting up a committee for this purpose, which should include an officer from the Chemical Branch among its members. The committee should be approved by the commander of the chemical branch in the corps. b. Sodium Chloride Needle The same as in item (1) above.
