and dated 18 September 1985, delivered to us through message
number 4055/6 dated 20 September 1985 from Tababa Command, 11th
Division, which in turn was communicated to us by message number
5050 dated 24 September 1985 from the Medical Field Unit: Should
the device for testing chlorine (chloroscope) not be available, a
test tube can be used, which can be filled with water to the (10
cm3) limit. To this you add the water testing tablets (OPO No-1).
If the water turns light red, this would indicate that there is
chlorine in the water. But if the red color is very light, this
means that there is too much chlorine in the water, and should be
reduced. This is for your information and compliance.

You can get your supply of OPO No-1) from the medical field
unit/39.

	(Field Protective Mask)

First: Nomenclature and Characteristics:

This mask consists of three main parts:

	1) The facepiece. This is made of the best type of rubber, is very
flexible, and has two glass eyepieces fitting all faces

	2) Filter: It has a filter sieve capable of absorbing all types of
military gases.

	3) Carrying bag: It is made of fabric mixed with rubber, is very
sturdy, and its inside is divided into two sections.

Second: Technical Specifications of the Protective Mask:

	1) Weight of the protective mask (455 plus or minus 50 grams)
	2) Weight of filter (305 plus or minus 20 grams)
	3) Weight of bag (460 plus or minus 30 grams)

Third: Method of Using the Protective Mask:

	1) Take the protective mask out of the bag. Lift the upper and lower
covers of the filter. Assemble the facepiece and filter by using
the spiral piece between them.

	2) Unfasten the vertical belts mounted on the facepiece, then put it
on, starting with the chin. Lift the face piece until it can be
fitted well on the face by means of the belts.

	3) Make sure that air will not enter the facepiece from the sides by
closing the air opening on the filter.

Fourth: Conditions for Use:

	1) The protective mask is not used except when chemical and
biological agents are present (illegible).

	2)	Before using the protective mask, make sure that no air gets into
the breathing system while wearing the protective mask.

	3)	If you smell gas or any strong odor stop breathing at once and
quickly replace the filter.

	4)	If the lens gets foggy while using it, you should use the pieces
of cloth inside the bag to clear the fog.

	5)	Do not open the two covers in the filter so that humidity does not
get into the filter.

	6)	The protective mask must be cleaned continuously after using it in
training or tactical operations.

	7)	A chemical specialist must be consulted about repairing a
malfunctioning filter.

	To: The Chemical Company/11
Subject: Method of Using Atropine Needles

Reference the secret message of the Chemical Branch Directorate, number 6964
dated 4 July 1986:

1. Self-Piercing Atropine Needle

Please endorse the following procedures when consuming the self-piercing
atropine needles and the chloride sodium fluid needles and their
capsules.
	a. Atropine Needle Capsule:

The self-piercing atropine needle capsule issued for operation purposes
is shelved after having been used several times. This is done by means
of a control form following the formation of a committee comprising of
an officer from the Chemical Branch with the endorsement of the
formation commander, the Chemical Branch Commander and the Division
Commander.

	b. Self-Piercing Atropine Needle:

A committee is set up in the commands of the Chemical Branch (corps,
command, division) after the self-piercing atropine needle (without
capsule) has been consumed after frequent use of the needle. After the
committee ascertains the needle's unsuitability for further use, a
control form is set up that must be endorsed by the Corps' Chemical
Branch commander.

2. Self-Piercing Sodium Chlorine Needle Capsule for Training

	a. The sodium chloride Fluid Needle Capsule

The sodium chloride capsule is shelved after being used for training
purposes by the unit. This is done by means of a control form following
the formation of a committee for that purpose. The committee should
include among its members an officer from the chemical branch and should
be approved by the commander of the Chemical Branch in the Corps.

	b. Sodium chloride needle

The same applies as in (b) of item (1) above.
