These classification markings are NOT U.S. Government markings. ********************************************* Secret The forty first mechanized infantry brigade chemical warning plan 1- Objective: To give an early warning to the units that the enemy has proceeded to use chemical weapons and to enable the units to take the necessary and chemical measures at the appropriate time. 2- Responsibilities: The responsibility of giving and lifting the chemical warning signal is as follows: a- The general warning: It is issued by our headquarters to all attached units in the following cases: First: If the enemy is expected to use chemical weapons Second: If the enemy is actually using the chemical weapons on one of the brigades or units and if the effects of these weapons might spread to other brigades and units. b- The local warning It is issued by the unit that is directly attacked. The first priority is to notify the other units and the second is to inform our headquarters. c- The responsibility to lift the warning: It is assumed by the headquarters that issued the warning signal. The warning is lifted in coordination with our headquarters after ensuring that the area is not contaminated. 3- Warning Signals: Chemical, nuclear, and biological warning signals are similar to those in [illegible] 4- Measures: The following measures are taken upon hearing or seeing the repeated warning signals. a- When expecting a nuclear attack: First: Move all tanks and vehicles that are operating to the headquarters and cover them with cloths. Close all openings in vehicles and tanks. Second: Take all the non assigned individuals to the trenches. Third: Prepare the protection equipment especially the protective mask. Secret The forty first mechanized infantry brigade chemical warning plan b- In case of a nuclear attack: The bright flash is the most evident signal of a nuclear explosion. Then, the following measures are taken: First: All persons who are in an open space must lie face down in the opposite direction of the explosion, cover their head, neck, and hands, and use protective equipment. Second: Closing all holes in vehicles and tanks and taking the nuclear attack procedures in the tanks. Third: All persons who are in an open space must wear protective masks. 1 -3 Secret Secret Ref. Fifth: All persons proceed with their normal obligations while wearing protective masks. d- Coordination First: All communication means are used to spread the chemical warning signal Second: The chemical warning signal takes priority in communications. Third: A schedule of chemical warning signals is issued to all radio stations, operations rooms, and headquarters (3-3) Secret Top Secret 1990 Chemical Repair Plan Objective: 1- To prepare a chemical repair plan for 1990 to provide maintenance and repair for the equipment and make them operational to carry out the required obligations in accordance with the repair instructions of the chemical corps. The 1990 chemical repair plan 2-The chemical corpsÕ repair plan includes the following main sources: a. Chemical repair echelons b. Periodic tests and maintenance c. Current repairs on equipment d. Partial repairs on equipment e. Equipment repairs by the base Chemical repairs echelons 3- a. First repairs in the chemical corps of our commandÕs brigades. b. Second repairs in the mobile chemical repair shop in the chemical corps of our company which is doing current repairs on equipment. c. Third repairs are the partial repairs in the chemical corps command, forces command RG which doing current and partial repairs on chemical equipment. d. The mobile chemical repair shop in the command (chemical officer) completes the repairs mentioned in the above b. for command units and brigades. The chemical repair detachments in the chemical support battalions are completing repairs of the headquarters of the corpsÕ units and brigades. e. The series of repairs is located at the first echelon till they reach the chemical commandÕs repair shop on all chemical equipment. The repairs are carried out according to the capabilities that exist in the attached annexes A and B. f. All accidents, equipment, and breakdowns of the reserve vehicles are repaired at the directorateÕs repair shops till the commandÕs shop. Priority is given to the mechanical repair before the chemical repair. 4. Tests and maintenance a- Tests First: Conducting tests on the chemical equipment and special vehicles, and making sure that they function well as follows: (1) Upon receiving the item to be stored (2) Upon inspecting the units and the depots (3) Upon conducting an inventory ([illegible] and delivery) (4) Upon failing to enter various chemical equipment & their real power in the service records (5) Upon the end of each training period (1-5) Top Secret Top Secret Second: The tests are conducted on the protective equipment and chemical materials and are classified according to annexes A and B as well as classification instructions and consumption of the chemical materials and equipment. Third: Tests are conducted on special vehicles and chemical equipment by platoon commanders who are prepared after each training session to review each vehicle and equipmentÕs performance in accordance with the average performance defined by the serviceÕs record for the equipment and the vehicles. They also confirm the results of the tests and look up their specifications in the serviceÕs records. In case the numbers in the serviceÕs records failed to match the results of the test, the repair procedures are set and equipment and vehicles are repaired in accordance with the repair echelons provided that the priority is given to repairing the mechanical failures of the vehicles before the chemical repair. Fourth: The serviceÕs records are approved by the repair detachments that leave the baseÕs chemical repair shop upon an order by the directorate for testing and repairing purposes and to the commands on the following dates: (1) The first date: Months of April and May (2) The second date: Months of October and November b. Maintenance First. The maintenance of the equipment is conducted as follows: (1) Daily maintenance: by individuals who use the chemical equipment upon using the equipment for training which consist of 10 % of the operations equipment. (2) Monthly maintenance. The monthly maintenance of the chemical equipment is carried out as that of all the equipment that is stored for a long period. The serviceÕs records affects maintenance. The condition of the chemical equipment in the serviceÕs records is reported by platoon commanders. (3) Quarterly maintenance: the quarterly maintenance occurs in accordance with the technical manuals of the equipment and special vehicles after the end of each training period for all chemical equipment except for those that have been stored for a long time. This maintenance is approved by the unitÕs commander in the serviceÕs records. (4) Semi annual maintenance: it is performed on the chemical equipment that has been stored for a long period. 5. Ongoing equipment repair 1- The ongoing repairs on the chemical equipment are conducted by the repair echelons and depend on the capabilities shown in Annexes A and B. 2- All repairs to the radiation equipment are performed at the second and third repair echelons during 1990. 6. Partial repairs to the equipment Partial repairs to the chemical equipment are performed by the mobile chemical repair shop in (chemical officer) our command and the partial repair shops at the chemical corps command, forces command, RG. However, the repairs that are beyond the scope of the partial repair shops that are mentioned in Annexes A and B, are sent to the chemical repair shop of the base after proving that they cannot be repaired by the partial repair shops. (2-5) Top secret 7. Chemical equipment repairs by the base a. Priority is given to repairing mechanized vehicles before they reach the baseÕs chemical repair shop for the baseÕs repairs. b. The baseÕs repair plan includes all the baseÕs repairs of special equipment that are mounted on the vehicles and need repairs by the base. In addition, there are those equipment mentioned below that need base repairs after testing or long hours of operation which affect their performance. Reserve materials The reserved materials are provided to detachments , repair shops , and the chemical repair shop of the base under a plan that is prepared quarterly to meet the needs of these detachments and repair shops.
