SUBJECT: IRAQI CW AND BW

[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]

 THE SYMPTOMS
DESCRIBED IN THE RECENTLY PUBLISHED U.S. SENATE REPORT CAN NOT BE
THE RESULT OF CHEMICAL AND/OR BIOLOGICAL AGENT EXPOSURE.
[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ] THE COLLECTION OF SYMPTOMS
DESCRIBED IN THE
REPORT ARE STRANGE AND, IN MANY CASES, UNRELATED TO EACH OTHER,
AND NOT CONSISTENT WITH SYMPTOMS SEEN AFTER EXPOSURE TO CBW
AGENTS. [ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ] THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY
SIMILAR SYMPTOMATOLOGY BEING REPORTED FROM OTHER COUNTRIES WHOSE
TROOPS TOOK PART IN THE COALITION OPERATIONS.
[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ] THE SYMPTOMS OBSERVED IN FAMILY
MEMBERS OF THE U.S.
TROOPS COULD NOT BE CAUSED BY A BW AGENT BECAUSE THE SYMPTOMS
WOULD HAVE APPEARED SHORTLY AFTER EXPOSURE-NOT TWO YEARS LATER.
BASED ON THE LIMITED ANECDOTAL INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE SENATE
REPORT, THEY DOUBT THAT THE ILLNESSES REPORTED BY THE FAMILIES
ARE CAUSED BY AN INFECTIOUS AGENT.
