2.  BAGHDAD'S USE AS A STAGING CITY FOR HOSTAGES. [      (b)(1)

 HOSTAGES WERE ALSO BEING HELD AT THE
MONSIEUR MILEA HOTEL IN BAGHDAD. THE IRAQIS ROUTED HOSTAGES FROM
THESE HOTELS IN BAGHDAD TO OTHER SITES IN IRAQ. [      (b)(1) sec 
1.3(a)(4)    ]

3.  HOSTAGE HOLDING, DEFENSES AND MUNITIONS PRODUCTION
AT THE AL-QA'IM//GEOCOORD: 3421N/04107E// CHEMICAL COMPLEX.
3.A.  AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF HOSTAGES AT THIS COMPLEX WERE
BEING HELD IN MOBILE HOMES LOCATED APPROX 200 METERS (M) SOUTH OF 
THE
COMPLEX BUILDING. THERE WERE APPROX 100 MOBILE HOMES. WORKERS FROM
THE COMPLEX WERE ALSO HOUSED THERE. FOOD AND LIVING CONDITIONS 
WERE
ADEQUATE. 
3.B.  THE ENTIRE AL-QA'IM COMPLEX WAS SURROUNDED BY A
CHAIN LINK FENCE. THE MOBILE HOMES WERE ENCLOSED BY A DOUBLE 
FENCE.
THE COMPLEX WAS PATROLLED BY ARMED GUARDS 24 HOURS A DAY. THE 
GUARDS
WERE ARMED WITH PISTOLS AND AK-47 ASSAULT WEAPONS. THE GUARDS WORE
EITHER UNIFORMS OR CIVILIAN CLOTHES. THE COMPLEX HAD AN 
UNDETERMINED
NUMBER OF SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES SITUATED OUTSIDE THE MAIN FENCE.

 THERE WAS A LARGE
MILITARY BUILD-UP AT AL-QA'IM. IRAQI TROOPS HAVE ERECTED A 
MILITARY
INSTALLATION SEPARATE FROM THE CHEMICAL COMPLEX. A LARGE NUMBER OF
MILITARY VEHICLES AND TROOPS WERE OPERATING IN THE AREA. THE 
COMPLEX
HAD A NUMBER OF TALL POLES LOCATED IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. THE 
POLES
HAD WIRES STRUNG AMONG THEM. [      (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4)    ]



3.C.  FIFTY FOOT MISSILE TRUCKED TOWARDS AL-QA'IM. A FIFTY
FOOT MISSILE WAS [      (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4)    ] EN ROUTE TOWARDS 
THE AL-QA'IM COMPLEX. THE
MISSILE WAS COVERED DURING TRANSPORT. [      (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) 
   ]


3.D.  PRODUCTION OF MUNITIONS AT AL-QA'IM. APPROX 150
POLISH WORKERS WERE AT THE COMPLEX. [      (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4)   
 ]


4.  HOSTAGE HOLDING AND DEFENSES AT THE POWER PLANT IN
AN-NASIRIYAH//CNA//, IRAQ. AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF HOSTAGES WERE 
BEING
HELD AT THE POWER PLANT. THEY WERE BEING HOUSED IN MOBILE HOMES
APPROX 200 M SOUTHEAST OF THE MAIN PLANT BUILDING. [      (b)(1)

 NO GUARDS OR ARMAMENTS
AT THIS POWER PLANT. THERE WERE A NUMBER OF LARGE POLES WITH WIRES
STRUNG AMONG THEM. THESE POLES WERE SIMILAR TO THE ONES AT 
AL-QA'IM
AND AN-NASIRIYAH, AS DISCUSSED ABOVE. [      (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4)

6.  ANTI-AIRCRAFT INSTALLATIONS ON BUILDINGS IN BAGHDAD.
THE IRAQIS HAVE PLACED ANTI-AIRCRAFT INSTALLATIONS ON A 
UNDISCLOSED
NUMBER OF TALL BUILDINGS IN THE AREA OF THE RASHID HOTEL. [
