	VII CORPS CHEMICAL COMMAND REPORT

[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]

[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]

DIA estimates that 100 percent of Iraqi nerve agent stocks are
perishable. Mustard stocks are also perishable but have a
slightly longer shelf life. The latest assessment is that nerve
agent stocks will be out of date 31 March 1991. [ (b)(2) ]
    ; [ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]
indicates that the capability of Iraqi units to operate in an NBC
environment may have been degraded. [ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]

                                           The masks, when
compared to a US M17A1 mask, have a few disadvantages such as no
drinking system, no hood and no separate optical insert
capability, the lack of a complete overgarment may make Iraqi
soldiers vulnerable to their own use of chemical/biological
weapons. Further, the 7O percent expirated NBC decontamination
kits could make Iraqi soldiers [ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ]
vulnerability to their own CW agents. This information could then
be used to convince the Iraqi soldier that Saddam considers him
expendable. The equipment captured to date suggests that the
ability of the Iraqis to fight in a CW environment has been
degraded [ (b)(2) ] [ (b)(1) sec
1.3(a)(4) ]
