NATIONAL CEMETERY
Any member of the Marine Corps who dies while on active duty is eligible for
burial without cost ~n a National Cemetery. Interment and/or erection of a
memorial marker in a National Cemetery is dependent upon availability of space in
the cemetery selected.
Application for a memorial Headstone or Marker in a National Cemetery must be
made in writing accompanied by a completed Application for Headstone or Marker
(VA Form 40-1330) if a Government marker is desired. National Cemeteries are
maintained by the United States Government and located at various areas through-
out the country.
Due to the limited space remaining in certain National Cemeteries, restrictions
have been imposed in some instances concerning the burial of dependents in a
National Cemetery. In view of this, any inquiries concerning the interment of
persons other than dec.ased active duty service personnel should be directed to
the Superintendent of the National Cemetery involved.

the date of death occurs prior to the 30th day of the month, the apportionment of
the regular monthly allotment will be included in the final settlement of arrears
of pay, and paid to the beneficiary designated to receive arrears of pay.
