C. SANS Data.
(1) At the initial stages of DESERT SHIELD the
maintenance data for desert operations that could be provided
to deploying units and wholesale level logistics a~ctivities
from which to plan was very limited. However, Materiel
Readiness Support Activity (NRSA) is currently analyzing SAMS-2
data from SWA and providing this analysis to HQDA, NICPs, NMPs
and deploying units, for future planning needs.
(2) DNMC elements should ensure SAMS-l sites, to include
the Divisional Military Intelligence Battalions, the Signal
Battalions, and the Combat Aviation Brigade, routinely provide
weekly work order transfer diskettes to the DMMC SAMS-2 site.
DMMCs need to ensure they routinely create and provide SAMS-2
work order transfer diskettes to MRSA. The near realtime data
will prove to be invaluable to MRSA in their ongoing analysis
for NICPs, NMPs, and future units deploying to the AOR.
D. Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP).
(1) MRSA message, DTG lll230Z Oct 90, subject: Hard Time
Oil Change Intervals, Ground Equipment, required units deployed
to SWA to revert from oil changes based on AOAP to changes
based on equipment lubrication orders (LO). Message also
advises that the interval in the LO have reduced by one half.
(2) Given the requirement to revert to hard time oil
change intervals, the DMMC needs to review its stockage levels
of service kits, filters, Class III package, etc., to ensure
that sufficient stocks are on hand to support this requirement.
AMC is working the issue of establishing an AOAP lab per
Division. Assuming the AOAP labs become functional in SWA,
stockage posture for AOAP sampling kits needs to be reviewed as
well. Each unit needs to deploy with AOAP kits.
E. Equipment Paint Patterns.
(1) The approved color for SWA is tan 686. It is easily
applied once thorough preparation has been performed on the
item to be painted.
(2) Questions on this matter may be addressed to any
local AMC Logistics Assistance Representative (LAR) or to HQDA
attention (DALO-SMM).
