VI. Services.
A. Facilities.
(1) Units need to plan for operations in a largely
undeveloped AOR. There exist a severe lack of established
Field service Support Systems in the infrastructure. Personal
hygiene and field sanitation training need to be a part of
pre-deployment training.
(2) Supplies and sanitation requirements to enhance the
personal comfort of the soldier must be considered prior to
loading for deployment. Soldiers should deploy with sufficient
personal hygiene items to sustain themselves for a minimum of
30 days.
B. Laundry.
(1) Host Nation Support and deployed tactical laundry
units are providing laundry support in SWA. However, the
soldier population to be supported is larger than can be
adequately serviced with available laundry capability. The
objective level of support is for each soldier to have at least
one 26 piece bundle of laundry per week.
(2) Soldiers should deploy with extra amounts of
underwear, towels, and socks given the expected longer turn
around times on laundry.
C. Bath.
(1) Shower facilities are limited in the AOR, but in
sufficient numbers to meet minimum health and hygiene needs.
(2) Units should plan to have as back up field expedient
shower equipment such as "Australian pails" on hand for
immediate use until established field or contract shower
systems become available.
