25 February 91 - Initiated connectivity with the Direct Support Command at
Khanjar via the LAN.
06 March 91 - Began deactivation of Operations section at Mishab. LCpl
Elslop returned to the Port of Jubail. The manning level for
the Operations section is now two SNCO's and one NCO.
MATERIAL ISSUE POINT
The Material Issue Point was responsible for accounting for all POL,
batteries, and limited Class IV assets that were brought forward from the SMU at
Jubail to support Mishab area units. This was done via a LUBF, and RO/ROP
quantities had to be established to provide for automatic replenishment. The MIP
was also the Organic Supply section for OSO-2 Headquarters and Maintenance
Detachment. Therefore, we had to provide Class II support, TAP support, and
various other forms of organic supply support. The MIP also satisfied
requirements for all local purchases by preparing and delivering DD-1149's to
Supply Support at Jubail.
Additionally,, the MIF created a Sub-Float section that was stocked with
some fast moving secreps to support OSO-2 organic assets. Most needed items were
not on hand within the Sub-Float, so backorders had to be established against the
Main Float at the SMU. Supply Detachment and Maintenance Detachment alternated
making 5 ton or TT runs to the Port of Al Jubail to turn-in unserviceable secreps
and pick-up serviceable secreps.
The MIP coordinated with DSC Supply Detachment to provide each other supply
assistance whenever possible. During the build up of DOS at DSC, the MIP
upply Detachment.
MIP personnel made runs to the SNU every other day to pick up open purchase
items/RUC line Items, in order to assist Storage in providing the best possible
support to our customers.
With the formation of CSSD-82 at Kibrit, the MIP provided (1) 3043 to assist
with C-130 offload operations, aimed at providing Class IX support to forward
forces.
3. STORAGE
The Storage section was responsible for setting up a POL lot, a battery lot,
a cleaning/admin supply lot, a receiving area, and a RUC Line area. To date,
well over 30 units were supported by Supply Detachment. In stock assets
consisted of over 100 fast moving Items. To assist the SMU in forwarding RUC
Line assets, the Storage section made a 5 ton run at least every other day. Over
the past two months, over 3,400 issues were made from Supply Detachment.
With the confusion caused by units constantly moving, a lot of RUC Line gear
was delivered to Mishab erroneously. Storage reworked this gear and made
arrangements to transfer It to the correct commands.
