received priority for parts and repair. Airlift and Military
Sealift Command (MSC) equipment were second and third in priority
for repairs. Marine Integrated Maintenance Management System
(MIMMS) automation was limited to the closing out of equipment
repair orders which were created in Saudi Arabia.
supply
During March, efforts were directed toward getting Marines and
equipment back to CONUS. Attention was given toward obtaining
accountability of the equipment preparing it for shipment. This
required flexible planning and detailed coordination between all
units to maintain control and accountability while working in an
expeditious manner. Unit supply personnel were required to
conduct inventories of equipment being prepared for loading on
MPS, MSC and air transportation. Upon return to MCAGCC, 29 Palms,
Ca., unit supply personnel began preparing storage warehouses and
supply administration officer spaces in order to conduct business
and handle Marines separating from the Marine Corps. Effort was
also directed toward identifying Remain Behind Equipment (RBE) and
initiating the return of it.
Motor Transport
For the Motor Transport Section (MTS) the first two days of
March saw the retrograde out of Kuwait back into Saudi Arabia.
From 4-10 March, maintenance was performed on all down assets at
the DSA support activity, Manifa Bay. On 10 March all vehicles
slated to return to CONUS by ship were transported to the port of
Jubail for washdown. On 20-28 March, washdown of all Maritime
Preposition Force vehicles was conducted at HALL 15. All washing
t 27 March,
Headquarters Motor Transport had one M1008 (USMC serial # 542147)
involved in a traffic accident with a British Range Rover near
Hall 15. The vehicle was turned in to Intermediate Maintenance
Activity (IMA) and declared condition code "HII. 29 March was turn
in of all MPF vehicles at the port of Jubail.
Food Service
During the month of March after departing Saudi Arabia a small
group of 7th Marines cooks prepared messhall # 1420 to reopen for
7th Marines feeding requirements. Messing was very light,
normally less than 200 Marines subsisted due to a liberal leave
policy. A high quality of messing was maintained.
