Command Religious Program
A worship service of thanksgiving was conducted for all
Regimental Combat Team (RCT-7) at the DSA Manifa Bay. Re-entry
briefs and training were provided for Headquarters Company
personnel prior to return to CONUS. The Regimental Chaplain's
section re-deployed to the Marine Corps Air, Ground, Combat Center
(MCAGCC) at 29 Palms.
Intelligence
The month of March was generally a period where the S-2 shop
accounted for war display weapons from each subordinate
organization of TFR and the forwarding of intelligence related
material captured from the Iraqi Army to the Defense Intelligence
Agency via lst Mar Div and Fleet Marine Force Pacific (FMFPAC).
Additionally, all Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) personnel
assigned to the S-2 office were returned to their original
organizations while permanently assigned personnel were authorized
annual leave.
Logistics/Supnlv
The 7th Marines S-4 was located on the outskirts of Kuwait
City as the higher Headquarters for TFR on 1 March. On 3 March
TFR units departed Kuwait for Al Mishab, Saudi Arabia to turn in
unexpended ammunition at Ammunition Supply Point 3 (ASP-3). Ammo
retrograde was completed on 6 March. Units were moved back to the
DSA at Manifa Bay. With the large influx of Marines and sailors,
living conditions at the DSA deteriorated on a daily basis. On 8
March, the advance party for RCT-7 departed from Jubail airfield
and returned to CONUS. The S-4 coordinated the return of five
infantry battalions, Ist Battalion, 7th Marines, 2nd Battalion,
, 9th Marines,
ist Battalion, 5th Marines as well as 3d Tank Battalion, 3d Light
Armored Infantry Battalion, Company I'D" 3d Amphibious Assault
Vehicle, and assisted 3d Battalion, 11 Marines. Support by the
MCAGCC staff was superior. The Commanding Officer of 7th Marines
returned on 22 March. The lift of all remaining RCT-7 Marines and
sailors continued through the end of March.
Maintenance Management
After the conflict, a concentrated effort was made to inspect
and repair equipment. Maritime Prepostioned Ship (MPS) gear
