         APPENDIX 2 (NBC Defense) to ANNEX C (Operations) to Operation
         Order 1-91, Operation DESERT STORM

         1.     Situation

             a. @ Enemy. The enemy forces are known to posses
         chemical weapons capable of being employed from tube artillery,
         multiple rocket lunchers and mines. The enemy forces are
         suspected to posses SCUD B and FROO-3 misales with chemical
         warheads. The enemy forces are suspected to posses crude
         biological weapons manufacturing capabilities and crude
         biological weapons delivery systems. The enemy is not known to
         posses nuclear weapons or a nuclear weapons delivery system.

             b, @Friendly. Friendly forces are capable of
         conducting monitor/survey and decontamination operations down
         to the Combat Service Support Detachment (CSSD) level.

             C. (U) Assumptions

                 (1) 'M The enemy will employ chemical weapons against
         friendly forces throughout this operation.

                 (2) @ The enemy may as a last resort, employ
         biological weapons against friendly forces if the situation
         permits.

         2. (U) Mission. The mission of NBC Defense personnel is to
         provide the Commander with timely, accurate guidance concerning
         NBC Defense warning/reporting, monitor/survey and
         decontamination operations, and to minimize the effects of NBC
         weapons on friendly forces operations.

         3. (U) Execution


             a. (U) Tasks

                 (1) (U) Commanding Officer, Headquarters and Service
         Battalion. Provide individual NBC Defense protective equipment
         to all personnel and organize and train NBC Defense teams to
upport control center, monitor/survey and decontamination
         operations.

                 (2) (U) Commanding Officer, General Support Group-1,
         Provide individual NBC Defense protective equipment to all
         personnel and organize and train NBC Defense teams to support
         control center, monitor/survey and decontamination operations.
