COMMAND CHRONOLOGY
variety of services to Headquarters Battery and the four firing
batteries in february. In addition to administrative support the
section also attached 2 Marines from 10th Marines Engineers to Sierra
Battery. One pay call was held during the month on I February and
Mail support finally began to improve. Approximately 10% of mail had
to be returned for rerouting. This was due to the 65 personnel
reassigned to other units prior to our departure from Okinawa.
Additionally there was some initial confusion on the part of postal
personnel as to which battery we had attached from 5th Battalion, 10th
Marines. One Marine was sent TAD with orders to the main post office
to assist in handling the mail. He is still assigned there. Admin
support to the battalion was continuous. Some processing delays were
encountered due to both transportation and the distance to the
consolidated admin office at Kibrit. Creative channels were utilized
with the assistance of many Marines of the battalion to assist in this
support.
Sierra battery Marines were welcomed into the battalion and after
personnel rosters were obtained they received all support available
either directly or through liaison with Fifth Battalion, 10th
Marines. Two Marines from 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines departed SWA on
emergency leave. As of the end of the month they have not returned.
One member of the battalion was involved in a motor vehicle accident
and sustained injuries. After spending 36 hours in the hospital for
tests and evaluation he returned to duty.
3. Legal Action
In the second month of 1991 the battalion had no legal actions
occur.
4. Medical

preparation for the coming ground offensive. Medical activities aside
from "routine" minor military sick call cases, include several items
which need to be highlighted.
1. A vehicle accident between a 5-ton truck and a HUMMWV resulted
in a Marine being thrown from his vehicle. He was hospitalized for
observation and recovered in a few days to full duty.
2. A Marine required stitches after being hit with a hard object on
the back of the head.
3. Delta Battery had 28 persons come down with gastro-luteritis.
They had an average of three crampy, gassy and loose stools, which
started about 12 hours after having their "hot meals" breakfast on
February 14. Fortunately nobody required any medical treatment and
