                                    COMMAND CHRONOLOGY

all complaints were completely abated the next morning. No report of
similar problems came from other batteries.

             4. Three Iraqi casualties were treated on February 26th resulting
from wounds sustained in action against allied forces. One case with
large hematome on his back and two cases of extremities fractured.
All were stabilized and evacuated to the 10th Marine RAS.

Because of limited motor transport assets no vehicle could be
dedicated to move the battalion's medical supplies. The medical staff
was forced to improvise by re-arranging and prioritizing instruments
and medications to be carried by different vehicles. Incorporating a
G.P. tent into a trailer, allowed us to fold/unfold our BAS to a fully
functional state within minutes thus fulfilling the requirement for
          "quick movement."

During the ground offensive, the battalion did not sustain any
Marine or Navy casualties as a result of enemy fire.

          5. Logistics/Supply

The battalion trains remained echeloned throughout the month of
February, following the basic philosophy of establishing the field
train as an "anchor" in the immediate vicinity of the supporting
organization and the combat trains well-forward with the firing
batteries. Effective communication was key to the success of this
system. In general, as the distance between the combat trains and
field train increased, so did the likelihood that the quality of
combat service support would be degraded by communication problems.

The combat service support infrastructure included Division Support
Command (DSC), Division Support Group - 2 (DSG-2), Combat Service
ntal Trains.
The formally established CSS procedure called for DSG-2 to provide all
CSS to the battalions of 10th Marines. Accordingly, as the month
began, the field train co-located with the 10th Marines field train,
immediately adjacent to DSG-2. This arrangement worked adequately in
the case of Class I (packaged operational rations) support only.
However, DSG-2 requested that battalions "pull" their own water and
Class III (bulk) as long as possible because transportation assets
were strained. By using supply point distribution (with the supply
point at DSC, Kibrit) the transportation problems were greatly eased,
but at the expense of requiring the battalion to use its limited
organic transportation assets to retrieve supplies. While operating
south of Kibrit, immediately adjacent to DSC, this was a simple
          matter.

On 10 February, the battalion moved approximately 22 miles west.
At this point, communications between the field train and combat
