                                  REGIMENTAL AID STATION


              During the period from 1 Jan 91 to 28 Feb 91 the Regimental
          Aid Station saw 55 patients with no serious injuries, trend@ or
          deaths. During the period of Operation Desert Storm the aid
          station saw only one Marine for a battle injury and evaluated two
          EPW's for medical complaints. The RAS continued to operate two
          aid stations, one in the rear at DSA and one with the forward
          COC. The forward RAS became mobile loaded during the ground
          phase of Desert Storm and remained ready to evaluate, treat are
          evacuate casualties. The RAS also was prepared to decontaminate
          and treat chemical casualties if the need had arisen. On 2S Feb
          91 the RAS was located at Kuwait International Airport and
          prepared for redeployment.

               The RAS continued to conduct routine preventive medicine
          inspections and procedures even while operating far forward in a
          combat environment. Insect control was the primary focus,
          however, IGG booster injections and antibiotic prophylaxis were
          also administered and monitored.
