                                   Communications

The Communications Shop continued to work hard during the
month of November supporting 2 Tactical Exercises Without Troops
(TEWT), and a Division Air Coordination exercise. In addition, the
Communications platoon had the challenge of maintaining two range
safety nets +or the safe and incident free running of Sheppard
range, which was located 35 km from the battalion assembly area.
Keeping the many radios and required nets functioning in the harsh
desert environment still required a constant effort. The
battalion Communication Shop continued to set the example +or the
rest of the Task Force by providing efficient and reliable
         communications.

                                       Medical

During the period of November 1990, while deployed in the
Saudi Arabian theater, the medical staff was involved in mass
casualty planning and operational exercises. Reiteration of
classes previously given at Camp Pendleton, (e.g. Nuclear,
Biological and Chemical, basic first aid and field sanitation)
were given at the company level. Advanced Training Life Support
Courses have been ongoing at the corps staff and Medical Officer
         level.

Medical problems in general have been minimal with
self-limiting (travelers) gastroentenitis being the primary
         problem.

                              Command-Reliqious-Progrgo

During November, LCDR Schmidtlein continued the counseling of
Marines and Sailors and either offered or coordinated the various
denominational religious worship services required for the
battalion. He accomplished this +eat through company size
services which he held in numerous locations throughout the
         Arabian desert.
