                                   NARRATIVE SUMMARY


                 Headquarters Company, lst Surveillance, Reconnaissance,
             and Intelligence Group continued to support lst BRIG for
             Operation Desert Shield in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. an 31
             January 1991 the following Headquarters Company personnel were
             dep-loyed to Saudi Arabia:

                 The company continues to provide support for basic camp
             services and is assigned the following quotas:

                   HO Co January Highlights +or Command Chronology

                 As of I January 1991, HO Co provide'd Marines +or three
             operational areas, the Forward Operating Base (FOB), the BRIG
             Main at Safaniya and the BRIG Rear at Camp 5.

                 Due to operational/logistical commitments throughout the
             month of January these totals at each operational area will
             fluctuate, but as of I January those numbers are (FOB 3),
             (SRIG Main is 26) and (BRIG Rear is 71) totalling present
             strength of 100.

                                  Signi-Ficant Events

             3 Jan   LCpl Watson, R. promoted to present rank.
             5 Jan   LCpl Brenden received letter of appreciation
                     Valium injectors issued to HO Co, Ist BRIG
             7 Jan   2nd BRIG personnel arrive (74 total)
             10 Jan  Held first combined formation of both units
                     (approximately 160 present)
             15 Jan  HQ Co, Ist SRIG received first ANTHRAX shot
             17 Jan  Bombing in Iraq commenced on this date
             31 Jan  Cpl Hartman and LCpl McClean promoted to present ranks
                   Cpl Butscher awarded 2nd award Good Conduct
                     LCpl Buss awarded Meritorious Mast from previous unit
                     HO Co, lst BRIG received 2nd ANTHRAX shot

             The company continues to hold formations on Mondays and
             Thursdays. Due to the present threat, daily PT is
             accomplished by section rather than company. Each work
             section has been upgraded to a 24 hour requirement "all is
             well". As of 31 January the totals for the 3 operational
             areas are as follows:             (FOB 3), (SRIS Main 35), and
             (BRIG Rear 142).
