                                       Medical

              During January and February, the Medical Department treated
         minor illnesses, predominantly self-limiting gastroenteritis, and
         conducted mass casualty exercises. On 13 February, the battalion
         executed a full-scale NBC exercise with medical evacuations,
         and practiced casualty collection and evacuation from the front
         lines using the AAVP-7's as armored ambulances. Inoculations for
         Botulism were administered to battalion personnel as well as nerve
         agent pre-treatments and Anthrax booster pills. During combat,
         medical personnel treated and evacuated scores of enemy wounded,
         often under fire. Luckily there was no r@irement to treat
         friendly casualties.

                              Command Religious Program

              During January and February, LCDR Schmidtlain continued the
         counseling of Marines and Sailors, coordinated the various
         denominational religious worship services required for the
         battalion, and conducted morality in war training throughout the
         command. He accomplished this through company size services which
         he held in numerous locations throughout the Arabian desert.
