            The advanced party for 8th Comn Battalion arrived. LCDR Archer
       and HM3 Sims checked aboard on the 2nd of January. On the 7th of
       January the 2nd SRIG corpsman checked into the co=and, HMCS O'Brien,
       HMI Hopkins and HN Asselin. on the 17th of January Operation Desert
       Storm commenced. HMC Lewis, HMC McKenzie, HM2 R. 'Luna and CDR J. W.
       Steger checked into the lst SRIG BAS on the 14th of January. on the
       23rd @f January HM2 R. Luna was deployed to the field. on the 21st of
       January HMI Hopkins was also deployed to the field.

            On the 31st of January 1991, CDR J. W. Steger assumed the
       position of SRI.Group Surgeon. After CDR Kincaid was re-assigned back
       to his parent command of lst Radio Bn.

            Training during this period of reporting was concentrated on
       education of the troops with classes to different units in the SRIG;
       Classes included basic first aid, and emergency first aid, radio
       operation, and combat stress courses were also given.


                                     CIVIC ACTION


          There were no civic action programs that Ist SRI Group took part
       in, except those noted by subordinate units.
