Local supply procurement sources also began to migrate south as
hostilities erupted, to compound the problem of our demands exceeding
local supplies. This problem was anticipated and steps were taken to
increase stock levels of necessities. The addition of 2nd SRIG units
under the administrative and operational control of ist SRIG required
the re '-location of MIMMS and SASSY accounts into the AOR, and the
procurement of additional desert camouflage clothing and equipment.

other logistics areas of concern during January included: MIMMS and
SASSY support for units deployed in forward areas, and the desert
camouflage painting of arriving vehicles and equipment. The ammo
business was busy with the basic issue to arriving units and personnel
and other special mission packages. The lst SRIG Medical section
coordinated NBC preventive medicine issues and injections during the
month, and also a @ rienced a changeover in Group Surgeons.

The SRIG run messhall aboard Camp 5 maintained it's high sanitation
rating, food quality, and quantity despite the decrease in food vendor
capability due to the increased demand. The Ist SRIG Mess Chief was
responsible for the coordination of food service support at the MEF
Main location with SRIG and MEF cooks, as well as other SRIG unit
      locations throughout the AOR.

Further logistical support from the Ist SRIG rear at Camp Pendleton
was restricted during January with the implementation of the V MEF
concept which consolidated remain behind equipment and personnel.
overall the intensity of logistical activity increased during January
with the start of hostilities, and looks to continue in the future.

                                        MEDICAL

disease. During the month of January the Ist SRI Group BAS immunized
the group against various bacterial and viral organisms of public
      health concern.

CANA Auto-injectors , Ciprofloxin and NAPP tablets were issued to
the troops for protection against chemical and biological warfare.

                                                       CDR R. Kincaid took
over as Group Surgeon until CDR Cohen's replacement arrived. HMC J
Smith was appointed to go TAD to the U.A.E. on the 27th of December
