SECTION 2
Command, Operations and Training
The company continued training and conducted classes at the
small unit level. We concentrated on leadership, weapons systems,
unit in the defense and NBC training to include Personnel and
Equipment Decontamination Team training, and Monitor and Survey Team
training.
A Fam. Fire of .50 caliber Machineguns was conducted at Ripper
Range to test new .50 caliber gun mounts on new hardback HMMWVs
and to train gunners.
Weapons 3/24 was operationally attached to the company on 910106
to provide perimeter security for the I MEF CP (Rear) at Al Jubail.
They replaced Charlie I/S. The Guard Force continued preparation and
improvement of guard post's and bunkers. Reaction Force drills were
conducted to train and prepare the guard for possible contingencies.
The drills included tests of the communications systems as well as
tactically reinforcing posts along the perimeter.
On 910129 a Quartering Party displaced to a forward location to
prepare the position for the MEF 14AIN CP. The Quartering Party
included electricians, carpenters, representatives from each section,
communicators and CB'S. They prepared billeting, power, water and
communications. Revetments were dug for tents and equipment. Fox
2/24 provided a reinforced Rifle Company for perimeter security at
the site and arrived on 910104.
Personnel and Administration
Arrival of II MEF augmentation personnel eliminated all critical
personnel shortages and filled virtually every line number on the
Table of Organization. This rapid growth of personnel enabled the
company to better fill manpower requirements at the I MEF (Main) and
I MEF (Rear) locations. Shortages remained at 17 Motor Vehicle
Operators and 3 Supply Warehouseman.
A Record of Emergency data audit for all hands was conducted for
H&S personnel (Riyadh, Al Jubail and Safaniya). The in processing of
over 500 personnel was conducted in three major echelons; over 100
Army, 12 January; 200,Marines, 22 January; and 200 Marines, 24
January. The location and distribution of new joins to the three
locations left the following approximate numbers of Marines at 600 at
I MEF (Rear), 400 at I MEF (Main) and 100 at MARCFNT (Riyahd).
An Officer in Charge of Headquarters and Service Company (Rear)
was established for administrative purposes. Four Officers reported
in for duty with the Company (Capt 1803, 1stLt 0302, CW02 0170, CW04
1302) - no dual assignments remained. A Company Special Order was
prepared assigning primary and additional duties.
