MEDICAL TRAINING OBJECTIVES
STAFF PLANNING
1. Terminal Learning O!?jectives: Medical personnel will undpistand
the mission, planning consiTer_@tions and responsibilities (direct
and indirect) for medical support of land assault operations.
2. Enablino Objectives
a. Identify areas of medical participation in Manning. The
medical officers should be an inteAral part of the tactical
planning for the command, i.e., a strong working relationship with
the S-3/Operations.
b. Identify direct and coordinating responsibility for:
(1) BAS/RAS casualty collection. tria4e and-treatment.
-Direct: medical personnel set-up BAS/RAS and
provide actual patient care.
-Coordination: track who provides non-medical
personnel for litter bearers. drivers. messa0e runners. etc.
(2) Casualty movement/MEDEVAC
-Direct: identify

--Task/train field units t@ know wbo. wherp and
how to call for casualty movement/MEDEVAC
--Task/train COC to: know who. where and how to

(3) Class VIII/Supplv (combat suniDlv Procedures)
-Direct: identify requirements to S-4
-Coordination: follow-up on S-4 tasking to obtain:

(4) Communications
-Direct: identify requirements (who you need to talk
to) to Communications Officer (ComO/'S-6')
-Coordination: follow-up on ComO working the
requirements and training the operators on what to do.
(5) NBCD Issues
-Direct: provide manning and designate Class VIII
requirements for use in the triage and dressing/I@-replaoement
vortions of the Casualty Decon Station: conduct internal NBC
training (i.e., the 'contaminated BAS' scenario): train for
treatment of chemical casualties (Self-/Buddy aid. line corpsman
functions in a contaminated environment, BAS routines and
resuscitation).
Coordination: NBCD to stake out/set up casualty
