CHEMICAL CASUALTY CARE
1. Terminal Learning Objectives: An effective participation of
medical personnel in the triage and dressino/IV-replacement portions
of casualty decontamination, followed by treatment of chemical
casualties day or night.
2. Enabling Learning_Obiectives
a. Coordination: follow-up that NBCD has staked-out casualty
decontamination lanes (in conjunction with personnel decontamination
stations (PDS)), and has equipment staged.
b. Identify: corpsmen and Class VIII supplies required for
triage. resuscitation and dressing/IV/equipment replacement during
the decontamination procedure.
C. Identify: assets for transportation of casualties from the
decon area to the BAS/RAS. e.g.. availability of ambulances) and
possible requirement for dedicated non-medical vehicle(s) and
driver(s) through the S-4/H&S Co.
d. Identify treatment of contaminated (Team I)and
decontaminated (Team III) casualties: conventional injuries,
chemical injuries and antidote overdose.
e. Identify plans tor responding to BAS/RAS contamination.
(1) If limited (e.g., contaminated casualty). hasty decon
or spot decon.
(2) If general. close down facility, move casualties to
next nearest available care facility via decon. PDS/MOPP change out
procedures. and equipment/supplv decon.
(3) Coordination: NBCD plan for getting decontamination
help (mobile Decon teamg from Division NBC): plan with S-4 for CSS
backup.
