                 A. TO REMOVE THE DESERT TAN 686 TEMPORARY COATING/PAINT, THE
FOLLOWING PROCEDURES APPEAR TO BE THE QUICKEST METHOD:
                     (1) ti]X ONE PART STRONG AMMONIA WITH TWO PARTS WATER.
                     (2) APPLY THE AMMONIA SOLUTION TO AN AREA OF F TEMPORARYY
PAINT WITH A PAINT BRUSH. HOUSEHOLD AMMONIA IS NORMALLY A 2
SOLUTION. AN INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH (5 SOLUZ ON) WORKS THE BEST.
                     (3) WASH OFF WITH A WATER HOSE. THE TREATED PAINT MUST
BE HOSED OFF BEFORE IT DRYS; OTHERWISE, THE AMMONIA SOLUTION MUST
BE REAPPLIED. SCRUBBING IS NORMALLY NOT NECESSARY.
                     (4) WORKING AS A TEAM, TWO MARINES SHOULD BE ABLE TO
REMOVE THE TEMPORARY PAINT FROM A HTAMWV IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES.
                 B. ANOTHER METHOD IS THE USE OF AMMONIA GEL. THE AMMONIA
GEL CAN BE APPLIED WITH A PAINT BRUSH AND THEN HOSED OFF.
