            BED RFOUIREMENTS

            0   Total theater bed requirements are determined by the CINC,
                based of the following:

                - population (forces) at risk
                - medical evacuation policy
                - other planning factors, e.g., intensities of combat,
                casualty rates used
                - Defense Guidance (DG) which specifies the scenario against
                which operational Plans (OPLANS) should be developed
                - Medical Planning Module (MPM), which computes bed
                requirements based on data provided by CINC planners

            BED CAPABILITIES

            0   For Planning purposes, the term bed capabilities includes the
                following:
                -  Collecting and Clearing Company, Surgical Support Company
                -  inpatient beds aboard larger ships
                -  CRTS beds
                -  Hospital Ships
                -  Fleet Hospitals
                -  host nation medical facilities
-  OCONUS navy MTFs
                -  CONUS MTFs (DOD, VA & ND14S)
