           Q. This is an interview conducted by captain Roberts, with

captain Mayo at Fleet Hospital 5, Al Jubayl, on January 10,

1991. Classification, unclass. [Tape recorder turned off]

Captain Mayo, could you give us your thoughts on the

aftermath now of the Aziz-Baker meeting? Could you give us

your thoughts and feelings on your current state of

readiness here at Fleet Hospital 5?

           A. I think right now we're ready. We have at least a 30-day

supply of all our consu'nables. We have almost all of our

medical equipment. Some of the orthopedic equipment,

external fixators, that have been ordered are due within a

                 week.

The personnel, from a staffing point of view, we're

currently shorthanded about fifty personnel. However, they

have been identified and we'--e expecting them to arrive

sometime within the next two weeks. None of them are

critical today. if we were receiving casualties around the

clock, however, it would just--their being here would be

necessary to maintain a steady work schedule for all of our

personnel so they could all be assured of time off to rest.

The facility itself is ready. We probably right now

are shorthanded by about twenty patient beds. Some of the

ones that we received with the hospital, because of use and
