(5) A forensic detachment needs to be deployed to the
theater to help make positive ID prior to Possible cremation.
(6) Environmental risk assessment should be done to
address handling procedures for CW/BW remains.
h. Medical taskings that will follow include:
(1) Developing medical procedures to treat BW remains
after disinterment that will allow transport back to the U.S.
at an acceptable risk to public health.
(2) Info= and coordinate these efforts with other
appropriate agenCYB, e.g., Public Health Service and EPA.
(3) Be prepared to inform, on notice, key medical
authorities about the national policy of handling CW/BW
contaminated remains.
(4) Support TRADOC's effort to train a cadre of
officers who will help casualty assistance officers in
explaining options to family members about the disposition of
remains.
