                          At their 30 No       1990 meting, the joint
                      Chiefs of Staff affirn-ed that all necessary masures
                      should be taken to expedite pro=ement of  @cines
                      and detection devices to Grove the US biological
                      defense posture over the near-term. @cines
                      included support for @cal trea@t initiatives
                      for use of antibiotics (ciproflcxacin and
                      doxycycline) and antitoxin. The SECDEF approved
                      continuation of @3         develo@t and       -
                      procurement of biological detection devices and
                      appropriate @cines (i.e., antibiotics and
                      antitoxin, to include procurement of 100'horses)
                      to treat persons exposed to potential biological
                      agents.
