              2.    General description.

                    a.     Background.  On request of the CINC,;V.S. Central Co=nand, USAMRDC
              deployed a ceU of three officers from the USAMRIC15 to provide staff support and
              @g in chen-dcal casualty care for Operation Deieft SWeld froni Septernber to
              Dftember 1990. After cc>iwetion of in-theater fonaw co@ in the Medical
              M=2&ement of Chemical Casualties CM2C3), a residual ceB of two officers was
              re@ in @ter to support CINCCENrs consultation and staff work requirements in
              this area. In the event of hostilities %ith the threar@of actual us. and allied @cal
              @ties, CINCCENT requested and USAMRDC agrod to support deployment of a
              detachment of climc4         m chermcal casualty care to the theater The
ldiers, fully deployed from January to March 1991. It included
              four PhYsic@, three cwcal sciez@ (AN, VC, MS), and one NCO. (A ninth officer
              involved in the early @ nu'ssion had redeployed in December 1990.)
                    b.     Concept of operation. The concept of operation approved by the Central
