                a.       BW Challenge Studies. USAMRIID was not
            represented at the meeting; therefore, details on the prt
            of the animal challenge studies were unavailable.

                f. (U) Ribavirin & Centoxin. Ribavirin and centox:           e
            delivered to Fort Detrick. The CENTCOM Surgeon's Office
            developed a distribution plan for both items and they wi:
            handcarried shortly to the Navy's Cairo facility. A cou:
            will then transport the ribavirin and centoxin directly
            32d MEDSOM.

                g.       Prepositioning of Antibiotics In-Theater fo:
            Chemoprophylaxis. The Pharmacy Consultant presented dati
            the availability and cost of ciprofloxacin and doxycycli:
            Ciprofloxacin costs $1.75 per 500mg tablet ($3.50 per pe:
            per day) and doxycyline costs only $.03-.04 per 100mg tal
            ($.06-.08 per person per day). The manufacturer of
            ciprofloxacin claims they can produce up to one million          @s
            per day. The availability of doxycyline is being explor,
            the committee believes it should be as available as
            ciprofloxacin. At the present time, the committee did ni
            recommend how much of either antibiotic should be purcha         Ld
            shipped to theater.

                 h.       Botulinum Antitoxin. The MEDOPS represents
