SUBJECT: Medical Management of Chemical Casualties Course (M2C3)
           Support for Operation Desert Shield

casualties and acquaint them with the recently fielded treatments
and pretreatments for nerve agent and mustard exposure (i.e.,
diazepam autoinjector and topical skin protectant). Priority for
training will be physicians, physician's assistants, nurses,
dentists, and enlisted personnel, respectively. Additional M2C3
courses will be scheduled in the December-January timeframe if
required to accomodate demand. Central funding will be available
for this course. Applications (DA Form 3838s) for 17-19 December
course should be sent to Commander, USAMRICD, ATTN: SGRD-UV-ZM/
LT Tobias, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010-5425.

           S. It is recognized that for units with large numbers of
personnel who need to be trained or short lead times prior to
deployment, the 3-day M2C3 at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) may
not be feasible. For this reason, USAMRICD is prepared to
provide a limited version of M2C3 in the field for those units
whose personnel cannot travel to APG. However, since the "road
course" may lack both the animal lab and FTX, medical personnel
are encouraged to attend the 17-19 December M2C3 if at all
           possible.

           6. Our staff point of contact on this matter is MAJ Roger
McIntosh or MAJ Bob Eng, DSN 289-0133/8163. Other points of
contact include Mr. Marvin Ring, DSN 471-6242 (HSC); MAJ David
Arday, DSN 797-3316 (FORSCOM); and LT John Tobias, DSN 584-3393
           (USAMRICD).

           FOR THE SURGEON GENERAL:
