                                     INFORMATION PAPER

          SUBJECT: Movement of Supplies - Special Project         Operation Desert
                     Shield

          1. VACCINE (Not pelletized) Total weight                490 pounds
                                            Total Cubic Feet      56
               Seven (7) boxes with each having dimensions of 3411 x 2211     x 19"
          and each weighing approximately 70 pounds.           (Includes wet ice
          weight)    As previously discussed - would prefer vaccine to be
          shipped via MAC an the weekly blood flight. (McGuire - Germany
          Dhahran) Would like two team members to accompany vaccine. Boxes
          will be packed with loose wet ice which is good for 48 - 72 hours.
          Ice will probably need to be added in Germany, therefore ice needs
          to be made available on stopover.        Coordination will need to be
          made with the 32nd MEDSOM to meet flight and arrange transportation
          for the vaccine to their refrigerated storage.
               Future shipments of vaccine scheduled to arrive Ft. Detrick on
          11 Sep 90, 16 Sep 90 and 1 Oct 90.            Each shipment will have
          essentially the same weight and cubic footage as the above
          shipment.

          2. SUPPLIES (Palletized) Total # of pallets - 6
                                        Total Cubic Feet      - 260
               Total weight - 2304 pounds (Includes 50 lbs per empty pallet)

               One pallet alcohol wipes - 30 cu ft. - 404 lbs.
               Three pallets syringes       - each one - 55 cu ft.    - 410 lbs.
               One pallet syringes - 32 cu ft. - 220 lbs.
               One pallet needles - 33 cu ft. - 450 lbs.

               These supplies need to arrive in country prior to or at the
e time as the vaccine. Coordination will need to be made with
          the 32nd MEDSOM to meet the flight and transport the supplies to
          their location.
               A future shipment of supplies is scheduled to arrive Ft.
          Detrick on 13 Sep 90. It will be approximately twice as large as
          the above shipment. (ie. approx wt. - 4600 pounds, approx cubic
          footage - 520)

          3.   Vaccine and supplies awaiting first shipment are currently
          being stored at USAMRIID - Fort Detrick, Maryland.
