reapplication should take place after any cleansing with soap and
water and af ter any decontamination procedure. Claims of the
company that only 1 application per day are not true. A U.S.
Forestry Service survey of over 200 fire-fighters reported
anecdotal experience suggesting that workers tended to "sweat it
off" and twice daily application, on arising and at noon, was
required for good protection from poison oak.

               d. Utilization rate of ICD1536 is based on an estimate of
1300 cre for coverage of the neck, wri'st-forearm and ankle-lower leg
with a 0.1 mm layer of ICD 1536. Based on an estimated 50% over-
application and wastage rate per application, 19.5 gm would be
required to cover these areas. This will provide up to 6
applications per 4, oz bottle or up to 24 applications per 16 oz
bottle. As it is not yet known to what extent ICD1536 may impede
heat dissipation, we cannot recommend its use over extensive
          portions of the body.

               e. Studies are to be completed (estimate 30 AUG 90) at CRDEC
to determine the effect of ICD1536 on the seal of the M17-series
mask. Results obtained at CRDEC from testing a large number of
other water based formulations would suggest that ICD1536 will not
interfere with. the mask seal. other studies at CRDEC will
determine if ICD1536 has an effect on the CAM and chemical alarms
          (estimate completion date: 7 $BP 90).

               f. Studies to determine if ICD1536 interferes with the
ef f icacy of the M258 and M291 skin decon kits are to be carried out
SEP
