            3. CURRENT SITUATION

                a. Resources available: Personnel shortages at CONUS
            child care facilities are being experienced due to increased
            populations at support installations and staff reductions
            resulting from workers affected by Desert Shield deployments
            within their family. The Community and Family Support Center
            will send a message to installation commanders to allow for
            flexible and responsive child care options during operation
            Desert Shield. Co=aanders are being advised to coordinate with
            supporting medical facilities. See Encl III: Draft Message,
            CC&FSC, 14 Jan 91, Subject, Child Care Options During Persian
            Gulf Crisis.

                b. Preventive medicine course of action: Continue to
            closely monitor disease threat in the theater and the movement
            of PVNTMED assets into theater.
