         MODERNIZATION PEG      (INPUT FAXED TO MRDC)

             a. Plan for maintaining the Medical Care Support
         Equipment (MEDCASE) program at a level of resourcing
         sufficient to provide equipment to support the enhanced
         direct care system (Gateway to Care) and the approved
         Medical Military Construction (MILCON) program.(HCL)

             b. Plan for equipping division, corps and echelons
         above corps medical treatment facilities with collective
         protection to treat casualties on the chemical, biological
         and nuclear battlefield.(HCD)

             C. Assure planning and provisioning for on-going MF2K
         force modernization is accomplished to align with evolving
         changes in warfighting medical support capability
         requirements. (HCD-M)

             d. Implement program to chemically harden corps and
         division level medical units to support AirLand Battle
         Futures. (HCP)

             e. Exploit medical and other technology to minimize
         casualties and enhance survivability and treatment on the
         integrated battlefield. Seek and exploit advances in
         health care that will improve preventive medicine
         techniques and technologies and enhance triage and
         treatment of soldiers. Continue research and development
         of new technologies, including biotechnology, to accelerate
         treatment and recovery of wounded, sick, and injured
         soldiers. Develop advanced vaccines, pretreatment, other
         prophylactic agents, and treatment methods against diseases
         that will be encountered on the integrated battlefield as
         well as endemic diseases; and against conventional nuclear,
         biological, and chemical (NBC), and directed energy (DE)
         weapons wounds and combined injury threats that will be
         encountered on the integrated battlefield.

             f. Develop programs to deal with combat stress
atment. Specifically, be prepared to
         deal with stress brought on by combat.

             g. Plan for the development of the next generation of
         DEPMEDS equipment. (COL J)
