           DASG-DBD
           SUBJECT: After Action Report

requirements are: maintenance of M-2 burners required 1-2 people
full time; cooks often had to pull KP because the hospital did
not implement a duty roster for various reasons; nutrition care
personnel often had to prepare different rations for patients and
staff because staff is supposed to follow theater ration policy
unless the logistical situation will permit feeding the same
ration as the patients. As an example, the BSth Evac with over
400 staff and up to 400 patients had a requirement for 20 9lXs.
To provide that support for an extended period of time placed a
lot of stress on the nutrition care staff with all of the
.resultant morale and illness problems developing. They tried
running one 16 hour shift and also two 10 hour shifts but still
had the problem. This is but one example. Other hospitals had
           to contract for civilian XPs; supplement other hospital's staffs;
and pull details that Food Service is exempt from by regulation.

                    3. Recommended Action: That the MARC be reviewed and
workload factors be relooked for adequacy.

Note: Incomplete information is available at this point to
provide a comprehensive report. Numerous comments were received
from the field concerning equipment and operational issues.
These have yet to be consolidated and analyzed.

                                           Colonel, SP
                                           Chief, Dietitian Section
                                           Army Medical Specialist Corps
