When the 14th PNU arrived, we wade a couple of changes. I still
have my BDE staff position, but I also work for the ]4tb ?MU u
an area coordinator for the three active duty LB Dets. the 14th
CDR is my rater. The three active duty LB Data have
responsibilities in the forward areas - two with iED OPs and one
in area support. I'll go forward with the third LB Det to
oversee their actions - mainly in locatial and certifying wells
in the forward areas and backing up the DIV PM assets. The 14tb
?KU assets will support the VII CORPS rear area and the EPV/CI
caqs.
At times, there has been reluctance for active duty and reserve
units to work together. Those problems are being solved as
people come to know each other.
Equipment is another problem area. Maintenance and repair parts
on CUTVs are killers. There's a program for swap out of CMTs
for MUs. However, the swap part is not being pushed. CUTTs
will be retained along with the gMs until a later time. PM is
not bilh on the priority list to receive the FjWs, but we're
working on lt@ I direct swap out would hurt because the KW#
will mot carry as such as the OUTV pickups. PM and FIG Water
Q,jallty analysis Kits can't be obtained through the supply system
in any anotmt of time that would benefit the theater.
Supposedly, some 9 kits were ordered for the theater some time
ago but nothing has been heard on their status. Other things
like Lindant and 11272 Xits aren't available. 11 the units didn't
bring it with them, along with extras,, they can pretty xucb
t. Ve're relyiig a lot on our FOOT to be
able to local purchase items.
lnthrax vaccine - limited supply; I$th IBM CPS and EAC have given
the vaccine, VII CORPS has not; saving it for rear area permanent
location type units,, with the destruction of Iraq's capability,
maybe it woi't be needed. That's a decision for COL Stratton,
COL Dossett, COL Griffin, BO Strong, BO McFarland, and LTG Frub
to make.
Malaria tablets - IRCM CDR will make decision to issue.
PB tablets - Vs were on for 2 days, then we were off for I day,
then on for one morning, then off again. Reportedly, there were
problems with the tablets. There were numerous gastrointestinal
cases at the hospitals. PM Docs say it was not due to the
tablets; think it was mostly misconceptions of the soldiers. MAJ
Stikes says Its 'supratentorial'. I'll have to *think' about
that one.
Sorry for the format on the above, Its sort of bits & pieces.
I'll try to update you periodically.
