              C. COL Lewis reported MG Travis had requested relie        I
           the previous guidance issued by the JCS staff with regar
           maximizing the production of the anthrax and botulinum
           vaccines. The JCS staff stated the production effort sh
           continue at maximal effort.

              d. The committee recommended consideration be given        ie
           type and amount of vaccine which should be stockpiled fo
           future use. This is to be discussed at the next meeting
           Specific individuals/units to be routinely immunized wit      ;e
           vaccines will also be discussed.

           5. (U) Research Effort. MAJ Eng reported TSG was inte         I
           in the results of animal studies which involved using a
           combination of ciprofloxacin and anthrax vaccine. LTC M
           reported none of the animal studies had looked at this
           combination but it did not appear necessary, especially
           that hostilities have ceased. The position of HQ USAMRD
           USAMRIID on this subject is being formulated. The commi
           recommended studies be conducted to determine the best d
           schedule for the two vaccines.

           6. (U) BW Vaccines, Botulinum Antitoxin and IND Drugs
           Theater. The Pharmacy Consultant stated the Forward MED       -n
           theater were in the process of returning to CONUS and th      ?y
           had not been provided with specific disposition instruct
           for the BW vaccines, botulinum antitoxin, and the IND dr
           The committee recommended that these items be located,
           centrally collected and eventually returned to CONUS.
           (Addendum: A message was sent out by the CENTCOM Surgeon
           office providing handling instructions for these items.)

           7. COL Tomlinson adjourned the working group at 1100.
