SUBJECT: Nerve Agent Pyridostigmine Pretreatment (NAPP)

        1. Purpose. To provide information on the NAPP.

        2. Facts.

            a. Nerve agents are one of the most potent classes of chemical
agents. NAPP is a pretreatment medication which significantly
enhances soldier survival when used with the nerve agent antidote
kit (NAAK). NAPP is a pretreatment taken before enemy use of nerve
        agents.

            b. NAPP is a tablet of pyridostigmine bromide which is taken
upon command directive when the threat of enemy use of nerve agents
is high. It is taken every 8 hours orally.

            C. The basis of issue of NAAK is two blister packs of 21
tablets or two weeks supply per soldier.
