          SUBJECT: Number of Service Members Vaccinated During Operation
          Desert Storm


          1. PURPOSE: To document estimate of service members vaccinated.


          2. FACTS

               a. Only a rough est3       can be made. The number of doses
          shipped and returned is known. The number of actual doses given
          was only 50 to 70 percent of the possible number of bot doses
          (Marine estimate, Army percentage slightly lower).

               b. Approximately 150,000 service members were vaccinated
          against anthrax.

               c. Approximately 8,000 service members were vaccinated
          against botulinum toxin.

               d. Calculations yielding the above information follows:
